Has negative ions got to do with reducing/prevent mold in the home.?

My house indoor and outdoor surfaced with molds on two particular surface; wood %26amp; leather. My leather products: wallet, slipper, bag, ... and wood product like tv console, dinning table (chairs) all surfaced with molds. Have clean them once a week with vinegar, sodium hypochlorite but the molds will still resurfaced itself. Tired of cleaning them with no visible result. Will negative ions release into the air by air purifier helps to prevent molds in the future?

Luckily my sofa is not made of leather, otherwise i wouldn%26#039;t be sitting here typing out my woes.

Pls advise.

Has negative ions got to do with reducing/prevent mold in the home.?
The negative ionizer should help quite a bit with this, but it really sounds like you need to get the heck out of that place. It%26#039;s totally unhealthy.

If I were you, I would call in an environmental agency to come in. If this is a rental, the city will send out an inspector for free.

Once again, I cannot stress how important it is that you move from there. Especially, if the mold is black.

FETISH? Do you have one?

I am sure everyone has a fetish be it weird or not......My fetishes are:

Like wearing leather ballet slippers around the house

Woman panties, ok, yes I occasionally wear them....sighhhh

Can look at womans painted toes all day.

No I am not a freak, these are just things that I like to do or see.

What about you?

FETISH? Do you have one?
these are common fetishes. lots of guys like the feel of leather and women too (the second skin feeling. like someone is holding you tight all day or night). the panties are VERY common. as well as hosiery. and even silky camisoles. the painted toes - foot fetish. some guys like the arch in the foot too (i know quite a few of those). my fetish, if you can call it that, is watching porn. guess that%26#039;s more voyeurism.
Reply:i love womes feet,i love painting there nails, i do it all the time for my wife and her friends when they come over, even there finger nails, and massging them to
Reply:Heavy leather and metal suites, torture, obedience. To others, of corse, expept the suits.

For Dog Owners?

I just finished reading Marley and Me - Life and Love with the World%26#039;s Worst Dog by John Grogan. My question is, what bad things did your beloved dog do that drove you crazy but you loved them nonetheless?

My Bichon, Mo, is probably Illinois%26#039; worst dog - besides tearing off freshly hung wallpaper, chewing numerous pieces of furniture (including two leather sofas), slippers and eyeglasses, he is also a clever food thief and master escape artist (Houdini would be proud). He is the light of my life.

So please, tell me, what did your %26quot;bad dog%26quot; do?

For Dog Owners?
I thought standard poodles weren%26#039;t yappy, like the smaller ones. I got a yapper. She barks when one of the family members makes a noise in another part of the house. She barks at people walking by the house. And when the doorbell rings...lets just say I%26#039;m thinking about disconnecting it.

I bought her one of those anti bark collars that sprays citronella when they bark. She didn%26#039;t stop barking, but she freshened the air very nicely.

Despite all of that, I love her dearly. She is full of personality and she loves to be groomed. (Which is a huge plus for me since I am a groomer) I guess they are just like our children. They have their faults, but you can%26#039;t help but love them!
Reply:I read that book, it was great. Things my dogs had done that would make him a bad dog to some but not to me!!!!! I still love him to pieces.

1. The week of Thanksgiving 2002 , I had my entire order of new

kitchen cabinets delivered to my home for complete kitchen

renovation in Jan 03, they were in a spare room with no door,

I went out on New Years Eve and never thought about

fireworks (which he has issues with), well when I returned that

night, my new right side stove cabinet was destroyed in the

box, the closet door frame was destroyed in the room. The

result was that on New Years day my husband and I went and

ordered a new cabinet and to offset the cost, I had to choose

a less expensive ceramic tile floor.

2. Then there was the dog bite to my husbands lip that required

7 sutures.

Yes, I love my dog!
Reply:We just got our 10 week old yellow lab and my husband just got a new surround sound for the tv room. Biscuit decided that the speaker lines were a really good way to satisfy his chewing frenzy. I knew after we found the cord chewed into...and my husband wasn%26#039;t so upset...he was a keeper...lol...he was gonna be anyway...

I have also had repair men come in and fix DSL...just to find a cord chewed into.

But like you said....It doesn%26#039;t matter...they are the best....
Reply:My youngest dog is a year old, he is so large that all he has to do is stretch his neck a little and anything on counters, tables and stove tops are fair game. Not an easy habit to break him of either. He has eaten alot of margarine in the past few months. It drives me crazy, but he finely has me trained, I leave nothing out in plain site.
Reply:i never really get angry with my collie (Bess) because we are so similar. I%26#039;m 13 and me and my dog do everything together. if i get angry with my parents and storm upstairs and slam my door Bess will slam into my door open it walk in and sit next to me staring where ever i am this always seems to make me feel better because of her angry little face that she does to like me (its so cute). also if i ever shout at my brother she barks and growls at him too, its great she%26#039;s such a good mate the best you can ever wish for.

Reply:Oh my gosh! I read that book aswell! Excellent book! And during the entire book I swore up and down my lab was related to Marley. But instead of describing Zoey my lab, I%26#039;ll talk about Spot.

Houdini would be as proud aswell. Spot could never stay locked up, or chained up.

Once, we were trying to get him to go in his dog lot, we already had his sister in it, but we had to get him. He carfully dodged us at the last second so we knew how cuories he was so we pulled out a five dollar bill. Spot carfully crouced up and right when we were about to jump out and get him when he grabbed the money and ran!

%26quot;Don%26#039;t spend It All In One Place!%26quot; I yelled behind him. Then my dad pulled out a dollar bill and he crept up again with the five dripping with slobber and he tried to get it but we knew his tricks and grabbed him. The five dollar bill was then useless soaking wet, lol.

Besides that, he took our things and hid them, ran off and played with stray dogs, and he ran the neighbors cat up a tree. He was the light of my life, and when we slept on the bed with me we would lay his head on the pillow, cover himself up without help and streach his legs till more than half the bed was his.

Zoey, the lab, lord have mercy on her soul she eats everything. Her and spot would have been good friends.

Hoped you enjoyed! Also, ginger his sister came runnin down our hill and did about 15 flips because she tripped! :)
Reply:LMAO! omg...i have 4..basically they are the doggie mafia!

i swear to you, they gang up together.

okay, i have 5 acres....totally fenced in, BUT my dogs were getting out of my gate and i had no idea HOW! i thought some jerk was opeing my gate, (it%26#039;s a simple drop horseshoe latch, like the kind a chain link fence has).

so i set up a video camera. i was going to find the punk letting my dogs out!

two days later, i caught IT! of course after i chased the dogs down and brought them back home. *that took 2 hours!* lol, so my husband and i go into the house and look at the tape.

Patch ( my Catahoula walks over to the gate and looks around...then....Angel comes into frame ( my Shepard mix) and she lays down next to Patch...then Dodger (mini doxie) and Peggy Sue ( doxie/chihuahua mix) walk up to the gate. Dodger starts pushing the brick i have bungee corded to the inside of the gate (to keep HIS butt inside) out of the way....THEN Peggy walks over and now that the brick is out of the way of the bottom of the latch on the gate, she jumps up on her backlegs and puts both paws on the gate....and lifts the latch with her muzzle until it stands up!

then Patch and Angel paw, and bump the gate till is opens and they all run out!

LMAO...my husband and i were ROLLING with laughter!

then we bought a padlock...and took care of the %26quot;GREAT ESCAPE!%26quot;

that is just one thing my doggie mafia does. lmao i love dogs!
Reply:My %26quot;bad dog%26quot;, Sadie is a black lab/shephard mix. She is a mud dog! She loves playing in mud! She rolls in it, digs in it, roots in it, etc.......

The problem is, she%26#039;s an inside dog. She has outside time to play and do her business, but she always manages to find a mudhole somewhere and play in it.
Reply:That is such a cute book! I cried at the end though.

My dog is a Siberian Husky, and she has a lot of energy, and tends to get hyper.
Reply:She chewed up a lovely comfortable pair of sandals just before I was due to go away to a hot place in the winter when it is impossible to buy sandals, then a few days later she chewed up another pair. But she looks at me with those eyes and I still love her to bits!
Reply:I have 2 Siberian Huskies. One of them chewed the cable on our satellite dish for our TV. My husband had to take the cable down, run it through PVC pipe and then re-mount the cable to the side of the house.
Reply:My dog has torn down curtains, chewed every kind of little yard statue in our yard, chewed up all the little fences I had around my garden, knocks over trash, got on the table and ate a box of crackers. The first really destructive things were when we first got her. She still occasionally knocks over the trash.

Which is better?

Canvas or leather ballet slippers?

Which is better?
canvas ballet choes are better because

1) They look nicer on the dance floor and especially on stage

2) They form to your foot more which works it more and helps percet your toe-pointing so it is cleaner

3) They are not as stiff as leather so they are easier to break in

4) Canvas shoes are split-sole which allows for more felixability in your foot

if you are using leather right now and are thinking about switching to canvas i%26#039;d start with the split sole leather ballet shoes that have canvas where the arch is. that way you can gettry out the split sole and canvas before you decide to choose full canvas shoes.

but personally, i like canvas better. as does my dance teacher and all of us advanced girls.
Reply:leather ballet slippers are by far better, they will last longer and are easy to break into

i don%26#039;t think so...but my feet smell so bad is there any way i could do this?

Can i machine wash?
I think it might ruin them. Go to your local pet store and buy a bottle of Natures Miracle. It is a safe enzyme that will remove any odor and is safe for fabrics. It%26#039;s amazing and works on every odor I have ever had to use it for. Just spray it in your shoe and let it do it%26#039;s job.

Split-Sole vs. Full Sole?

I%26#039;ve been using full sole leather ballet slippers for quite a while now, but I was just wondering if there%26#039;s a difference between these and split-sole slippers? And is one better than the other?

Split-Sole vs. Full Sole?
Split soles are easier to dance in, but I know some dance teachers who prefer their students to use the full sole because it%26#039;s harder and makes their feet stronger. I think it%26#039;s really six of one / half dozen of the other, as to which one is better.
Reply:split sole is better because u can point ur foot better
Reply:split sole for sure plus if your still growing, it takes longer to grow out of and also, they are easier to fit into a small/ very full bag
Reply:Split sole is much better.

I had full sole shoes for over a year and when I finally switched back to split sole, my feet instantly looked and felt better! Split sole shoes make your feet look better, and as you get more experienced your teacher will probably recommend you buy split sole shoes. Split soles hug the arch better!!
Reply:get the split sole... its easier to form a full arch because it isnt constricted by the whole sole. Plus, eventually if your instructor knows what they%26#039;re talkin about, theyre just gunna make you switch anyway.
Reply:Whether one is proven to be better than the other I don%26#039;t know. But I definitely prefer split sole rather than full sole. Full sole doesn%26#039;t do anything for you but make it a little more hard to point your foot. It doesn%26#039;t compliment your arch AT ALL. Split soles compliment your arch and just seem to make everything much easier to do. I prefer Sansha split soles because they make a kind that%26#039;s leather with a canvas arch. Its the best shoe ever made. I love them!!!
Reply:Split sole.

Go try them on and point. Look at your feet and toes, see which looks better. But also go on feel, you know your feet better than anyone.
Reply:split sole is a lo better and easier to have!
Reply:Split soul and if possible get canvas shoes they hug your feet better and do much for your feet to look nice when you piont ur feet

Ballet slipper fetish....?

Hi all,

well I%26#039;m sure to get some intersting replies.....Yes I have a fetish and enjoy leather ballet slippers around the house. I have many pairs and colors.....

I can also looked at womans painted toes all day, I just love a nice pedicured foot, and before you ask, yes I have had a pedicure and occasionally have polish applied.

Ballet slipper fetish....?
I think women%26#039;s shoes and feet are pretty and I am a straight woman. I think your %26#039;fetish%26#039; is harmless too as long as you don%26#039;t start stalking women and stealing their shoes from them by force.

like for canvas and leather ballet flats?

opoosite of rosin?

Is there something i can use to make my ballet slippers more slippery for pirouettes?
no, you can just figuire it out, if you practice in the unslipery soles you have a better chance of getting it to work later on, it%26#039;ll be slippery-er on pointe if that%26#039;s what you%26#039;re talkin about

There is also a Dancers wax (also the name of the product) used by ballroom dancer to help their shoes slide. I have an old address if you want it..

Full-Soled Ballet slippers?

I used to wear split sole canvas Leo%26#039;s and I just got a new pair of Bloch full-soled leather shoes and it fits really really snug. My problem is that when i go into demi-pointe, the part below the balls of my feet, there is a bulge of the shoe even though I tied it pretty tight.

Is that normal?

Full-Soled Ballet slippers?
for me, full soled are VERY hard to dance in. to break them in, dance [obivious] and/or at night fold them in half and roll them around to soften the leather.
Reply:well the truth is split sole shoes r better, more fleible, show off your feet better...i wore full sole ones when i was little u really just have to dance in them u cant break them in much, i personally think split soles r the way to go. espically if u r a serious dancer
Reply:That%26#039;s not common but does happen. It happened to me with a different brand of shoe and I ended up throwing it away... sorry.
Reply:the bulge is pretty common in new full soles, and rarely goes away. it may even happen when you try to pont your feet. i personally think nobody needs a full sole, it does nothing for your arches. i would go back to canvas or leather split soles.
Reply:They are probably just new. Once you break them in, they should do better. I agree with others, though-you need to get rid of the full sole and go to a canvas split sole (sansha makes a great brand for guys and girls.)

New ballet slippers?

I%26#039;ve always worn Capezios but lately my shoes have been getting deforming, causing my heel to pop out during class and if i buy a new pair the same thing happens. I only wear split sole and my studio requires leather.

New ballet slippers?
leather is stiffer so i dont think you can find a shoe that doesnt pop off your foot unless you break it in real good.

that happened to me while i danced.

is it really cold near you? the coldness might be causing your shoe to stiffen. try puting them in a ziplock bag and seal it without any air. this really helps my leather horseback riding gloves so they dont get stiff.

find out why you cant have anything else but leather. all other types should work just the same! they also will be more flexible and form fitting, which will go along with your foot instead of popping out.
Reply:try Bloch that%26#039;s a good brand.
Reply:sew the elasic really close to the heal (even if they are pre-sewn. rip them out and re-sew them.
Reply:you might like the bloch prolite, or maybe the grishko professional leather slipper. you can also try to criss-cross the elastic instead of doing one piece, and that will help secure your shoe to your foot. good luck!!
Reply:u must find a shoe that fits or it is no good
Reply:Try buying Bloch and if you can get the leather shoes with the canvas instep (where the split sole is). The canvas is more flexable and should move with your foot instead of it popping off.
Reply:Sansha!!

It’s not biblical?

The problem that some of us Christians have with evolution is that some take the bible way too literally. You hear them say “because it’s not biblical”, as though the bible is the book of “everything”. Well guess what, the bible doesn’t mention the North American Continent, or manned flight, or microwave ovens (and everyone has to admit that cooking with microwave radiation is pretty cool!). Anyway, people back then were pretty simple, and it would have been useless to explain the big bang theory to them. So, they told simple stories, parables if you will. Evolution should not take away from your beliefs. Maybe it is time to put away the “fuzzy bunny slippers of religion” and put on a pair of “Sharper Image genuine leather slippers of religion”. The place for religion is now, not 6,000-10,000 years ago. So, am I right, or am I completely out of my mind????

God Bless...and my the Force be with you...and hellfire and brimstone.

It’s not biblical?
Funny. Perhaps there is some possibility that Christians, Atheists, Muslims, Agnostics and everyone else can all get along if we start thinking like this. Yes, there has to be evolution (pardon the pun) in terms of morality and our spiritual understanding as well as our understanding of reality.

If something being in the Bible makes it true and not being in the Bible makes it false... then why aren%26#039;t we still practicing slavery? The Bible says slaves should obey their masters. So it goes both ways... a lot of things, as you pointed out, which are true and real weren%26#039;t mentioned in the Bible and a lot of things that were commonly accepted and practiced in the Bible are wrong and what the Bible says about these things should be abandoned.
Reply:The Bible says God spoke the world into existance. So evolution is totally contrary to God%26#039;s Word.

%26quot; For in six days the Lord created the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them.%26quot;

%26quot;By the Word of the Lord were the heavens created and all the host of them by the breathe of His mouth...for He spake AND IT WAS DONE; HE COMMANDED AND IT STOOD FAST%26quot;.

Doesn%26#039;t sound like evolution to me.
Reply:dude. its one or the other. God didn%26#039;t make us evolve. he created adam. then eve. if you are a christian, i dont understand. sometimes we try to make up ways for our mind to comprehend everything, and well.. its just the thing, we%26#039;ll never understand. God is wayy to complex for us.
Reply:I think that man%26#039;s pride, once again, is what allows man to be blinded by evolution. For instance, most men and many women are too proud to admit that they don%26#039;t know how to get from point A to point B, much less will they admit that they DO NOT know how man came into existence. We always have to have an answer and sometimes... when we are left hanging... not having a blatant answer... we supply our own for our pride%26#039;s sake. We must be %26quot;all-knowing%26quot;... too bad that we cannot be safisfied to know that we were created by a loving heavenly Father who supplied for each and every need we will ever have since we were the reason for creation. Each of us, even Christians, need to humble ourselves and realize that we will never be able to comprehend the majesty and power of our Creator. Therefore, I personally do not think that %26quot;religion%26quot; or science will ever be able to give us the answers we desire.

As for Evolution... when we argue about Evolution or Creation..its so stupid. We have both. God created everything, back in the day, and then over the years certian things have evolved.

Somebody look up the definition of %26quot;Evolution%26quot; please. It means %26quot;to change%26quot;
Reply:Yup, religion is now. We%26#039;re now, not 6,000-10,000 years ago. But then, the book of Revelation is pretty descriptive of things future, way beyond the knowledge of the time. Reply:Pardon the foolishness of the point, but there is really no way someone could describe a %26quot;big bang%26quot; theory as if they saw it first hand. String theory tries, but it falls woefully short. Also, Genesis 1 shows all of matter being created. So how is this %26quot;new%26quot; religion better than my old one?

Can you see that Adam and Eve lived in the garden for 1 year? maybe 10 years? How about 500 years? I could venture to say even 1,000,000 years before they sinned and were cast out. The Bible is silent on the amount of time they spent in the garden.

However, to say %26quot;Man evolved from apes%26quot; when the Bible says God created man from the dust of the earth and woman from his rib.... is to say the Bible is wrong. If you are going to say the Bible is wrong on one thing, you need to say it about the whole thing, because if it can lie about one thing, nothing else can be trusted.

Reply:The whole point of the creation event in Genesis is to give truth to the fact that God did create everything. That truth still stands in our day to give testimony to the fact that there is an all-knowing God who created everything. How he created it is an entirely different matter and how long it actually took Him is also up for debate. The problem most people experience when trying to see the big bang theory as plausible, is that it denies the creative aspect of God and the truth still stands...Nothing, absolutely nothing came into existance without the creative Hand of God.
Reply:The bible is the Word of God and can be used as a source of confirmation. When God speaks to us He speaks to our hearts and then provides confirmation by two or more witnesses as to what He is saying. It will come to us by way of the spoken word and the written word. %26quot;The big bang theory%26quot;, is a Scientific way to explain away how the creation began. All matter is a matter of perception. Now if God spoke and said,%26quot;Let there be light%26quot;, and suddenly there was light then who knows what kind of sound that made in the void? It could have been a bang or it could have been a pop, because sound is also a product of perception. Since no element of hearing was there but God%26#039;s way of hearing then it was an impression on the void and if it made a big bang then it was God%26#039;s choice because dimension it%26#039;s self was only perceived by Him at that time. Demension being size, and shape, and sound, etc. the bible is TRUTH and must be discerned spiritually. It is not about human perception, it is about reality.

Reply:The Bible says God made Adam from clay and made Eve from a rib from Adam. He made them and He blew into them to give them a spirit. He said He wished to make them in His own image. Well God is a spirit and He cannot be seen by our eyes unless He does something special to communicate to us, so what is this image that we both share? I think it is the part of us that never dies, or our spirit. Maybe there evolved other man-like creatures even before Adam was made? I do not know but they did not have spirits. That gift came from God only through the line of Adam. And that is the religion RIGHT NOW!!!! You are a son of Adam. When Adam fell from a time of fellowship with God because he failed a little test---do not eat from this tree because if you do then you will die----Adam fell to a spiritual death of separation from God and all his sons fell with him. So now we all, including you right now, are born sinners......and how can God who is too perfect to talk to sinners , how can He talk to us? Only a perfect sacrifice could cover the sin and restore the fellowship.....that is what Jesus was for. He knew He came to die for us, if we do accept His action on our behalf. The birth of Jesus was predicted while Adam was still alive. God told Eve that her heel, or one of her sons, would crush the head of the serpent, or the fallen angel, Satan. And He did. God was the Father of Jesus and not Adam and so Jesus escaped original sin. He was the secret weapon. The war between good and evil is over but there is still some cleaning up to do before the end. Lots of scientists who believe things evolve also believe in God%26#039;s creation of the world. God said let there be light and BANG--the big bang. String theory fits nicely with the Bible. It says the sky will roll up like a scroll. So if we are all living on a membrane it is all ready to roll up, right? Jesus walking through walls, no doubt in and out of the parallel universes which He created. The Bible says entropy would consume the world if He did not protect it by His own hand. Makes sense to me.

Did you ever ask yourself what God wants? He wants you to be saved and go to heaven to live with Him. right? Then why is it that right after you receive the Lord as your savior, they do not shoot you in the head and send you on to glory? It is because God wants SONS%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;!!!!SONS ...just like Jesus..walking all over the earth ready to respond and do whatever He asks. What could God not accomplish if He just had YOU? I mean He HAD you. You were ready and you trusted Him completely and any old dumb thing He wanted , you would not ask questions and would just do it or say it or give it or not do it and He could influence many people through you. That is real religion right now.!! Tell God you want to learn to trust and obey Him and see what you as a team can do. The Force is not personal but God is very up close and personal. Forget the Force.

Help! How do you clean these items from estate sale?

Found some really cool things at an estate sale but they all need to be cleaned. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.

1. A large oil painting, very dusty, has alot of pencil marks all over and the canvas is fraying around the frame. The painting is done in light pastel colors and is scenery.

2. Some authentic Moose hide leather slippers but the inside has some kind of wooly fleece on them.

3. An awesome Dooney %26amp; Bourke Leather purse but it is very dirty inside and out. Leather is NOT scratched or torn but dingy. Needs a Good cleaning.

What would you use to clean these items? How would you go about cleaning them so I don%26#039;t ruin them or their value? Where can I find the product/products you recommend?

Thanks so very much for the help! Looking forward to my new found treasures.

Help! How do you clean these items from estate sale?
Each of these items, ideally, should be professionally cleaned. I know that%26#039;s not what you want to hear, but when something has an inherent value such as these, you don%26#039;t want to risk self cleaning, and you won%26#039;t get the desired results anyhow.
Reply:Any item that has a potential for antique value should be restored/repaired/cleaned by a professional Antique restorative service...a reputable person or staff who know what they are doing and do it well, particularly in the case of the painting. As canvas ages it becomes brittle and the oils have a strong ability to flake away. Depending how old this painting is will also dictate whether or not the canvas is of a linen, linseed, cotton or ductail content and again this will determine which method of treatment will be required. Restoring this particularly if it is a piece of value, will be a painstaking process and is best left up to someone who does this for a living. If you know anyone who restores museum quality paintings/pieces, they%26#039;d be the best person to approach...possibly checking with a local art gallery would point you in the right direction.

As for the leathers/hides...check with a local leather goods store...there are different products available that can be used to re-supple the leather and clean it at the same time...you want a leather restorative/protector that will not dry out the leather further. You could probably do this particular cleaning on your own just ensure the proper materials are used to do it with.

Question about ballet slippers and thier fittings.?

I just recieved my ballet slippers in the mail. I ordered a 6B after learning that they run smaller than street shoes.

After trying them on I am not sure if they are fitting correctly. The sides of the shoes kind of point out like they are too wide but the toes of them are snug.

Also, how far back should the harder leather on the bottom go? All the way to the end of the heel? Mine stop about halfway through my heel. This could all be proper fitting, but I do not know.

I know it would be better to buy them in person but this is not an option. Thank you for your help.

Question about ballet slippers and thier fittings.?
They should fit like a glove. The leather stretches, so you don%26#039;t want them to be too big to start with. When you are standing up in them you want all ten of your toes to touch the floor, but no extra space on the sides or in the toe. The leather stopping half way through your heel is fine. Good luck.
Reply:take them to a store, and ask them if they fit right. if not, then ask them to fit you correctly
Reply:Go to a Dance Store and ask for their opinion. And for furture reference you should NEVER order dance shoes without trying them on first because all different brands fit differently and you just have to try them on to know what will work for you.
Reply:next time go to a store
Reply:I personally don%26#039;t think they fit right, just send them back. First look at some sizing charts, and I%26#039;m sure you will find the right shoe.

I want to knit slippers, where can I buy prefabricated soles?

I want to knit a pair of slippers. You know the LONG boot like ones and want to purchase some suede or leather soles. Im looking for soles that are one peice with the holes around the edge where you sew the knitted upper onto the sole and I can%26#039;t find them anywhere! Hope someone can help, I%26#039;m looking to make these as a gift.

Do your own search with parameters:

leather pre-punched slipper sole
Reply:I don%26#039;t know where you can get the actual soles, but if you can%26#039;t find them try this.

Get some leather (tandy leather has an online site and their prices aren%26#039;t too bad) and trace the bottom of a shoe in the right size. It will be a little big, but that%26#039;s okay, it will be a little less wear on where the laces go through. Punch holes in the edges with an awl (you can get one at just about any craft store, and use it for jewelry and other stuff later), then sew on the knitting. Optionally, before you sew the soles to the knitting, rub them several times with melted candlewax or parafin. This toughens the leather and will help them last a lot longer.
Reply:I have seen them in Michaels, too. You can also check online at places like Annie%26#039;s Attic and Mary Maxim. They sell yarn and knitting patterns. I%26#039;d be very surprised if they didn%26#039;t also sell these slipper soles.

You might also try eBay. They have lots of crafts supplies. Many folks buy things they plan to do, and then reality hits and they never do them. So, they sell the stuff on eBay, cheap, just to make space for the supplies for their next project. (?!) Do be sure to check there. It might be wise to check in all categories, or maybe in crafts. There%26#039;s a %26#039;leather working%26#039; section under crafts; maybe someone would have some there. It%26#039;s worth a look.

Are ballet slippers ok for a physical theatre role?

I am in a children%26#039;s theatre production and need to find appropriate footwear. It is a VERY physical role. I am constantly moving, jumping, running, bouncing, hoping, etc.

I have been wearing %26#039;ballet flats%26#039; by Rocket Dog for rehearsal so far, but need to find a pair for my costume. They need to be totally flat, and flesh/tan/beige color.

Would Ballet slippers or Jazz shoes be ok for this?

I have never worn actual ballet shoes, so I don%26#039;t know if they would be sturdy enough, and if the %26#039;tread%26#039; would be sufficient.

If so- what kind? Canvas/leather? Split Sole or full? Etc Etc.

Thanks much for any answers :)

Are ballet slippers ok for a physical theatre role?
jazz shoes should be fine, although i would suggest a pull on style, because they wont come untied. i would suggest to capezio cg-15 in caramel, which is a leather shoe, no laces, split sole, and in a very nice flesh color. the sole is scored so it has some grip...its great.
Reply:ballet shoes would be fine. i suggest split sole cause they%26#039;re easier to bend.
Reply:I always found character shoes, lifted heel tap shoes without the taps, to be the best shoe for versatility, support and comfort. As a matter of fact, I used to sell character shoes in abundance to my theatre folks because they would cover for street shoes but wear like dance shoes for flexibility.

My 2nd choice would be a sturdy, full or split sole jazz shoe.

Your feet absolutely need more support than slippers can give you.

Break a leg!
Reply:i got to school with my ballet flats around 3-4 days of the week. they are reaalllyy comfertable. i would suggest using them for your role, as long as you find them comfertable enough. buying those dr.scholl%26#039;s foot pad things also help with comfort. hope i helped. good luck%26lt;3
Reply:I would use jazz shoes because it is sturdy and good for the type of things you are doing! You should buy BLOCH Elasta Bootie Split Sole Slip On Leather Jazz Shoe (Black)
Reply:i agree with the person a few above.. tan pull on capezio jazz shoees are definitely the way you want to go...

make sure they fit well! mine were a bit too big last year and it caused some problems
Reply:There are several different types of ballet shoes. Pointe shoes are what classical ballet dancers wear. They would not be suitable for what you describe you%26#039;ll be doing. Technique shoes are flat ballet slippers, some are split-sole, some are not. You probably don%26#039;t need split soles. Jazz shoes are usually black, and some have laces like tennis shoes.

Technique shoes are designed to allow for a full range of motion in the foot, but aren%26#039;t terribly supportive if you%26#039;re going to be doing a lot of running, jumping, etc., because they are so flat. Any flat shoe will have this issue. Insoles could help with this.

Regarding canvas or leather: canvas is cheaper, but leather stretches and causes fewer blisters.

Good luck (break a leg) in your production!
Reply:Ballet slippers or jazz shoes would work perfectly. I personally like split-sole leather ballet slippers. The split sole gives you a little bit more flexibility, so they sound like they would probably work out perfectly for you. And ballet slippers can last a looooong time. If you%26#039;re only going to wear them for this production, they should be fine. Go to a dance store, %26amp; they can help you find the right shoes.

Ballet Slippers? (again)?

I wear the split-sole canvas Leo%26#039;s Arabesque slipper

and i was looking as different kinds of slippers because the elastic thing that is tied into a bow and tucked in (i don%26#039;t know what its called) but i guess i untied it and it was too short so it just retracted into the sides. I fixed it before but i%26#039;m not sure that i cen get that elasic out again.

I want to get a full sole one because people said that it would help me work harder to point which is good for pointe. Is that true?

I also want to get leather because I haven%26#039;t tried leather before.

Need anymore info about something?

Ballet Slippers? (again)?
Split sole or full sole, the choice is yours. Ask your ballet tutor for advice. Pointe shoes are completly different. they are more solid, and with the support you need. Do not go onto pointe in your demi pointe shoe.

Your dance teacher will advide when you should go to pointe. This should not happen until your feet are ready and your ankles strong.
Reply:I would say stay with spilt sole cause if you go to full sole it will give you less experince on pointe cause it will not let you point your foot as widely as possibe for my 10 years of ballet i always used spilt sole now goin on my 11 year i always get good resault and compliments on my point in my foot it also helped me on pointe shoes cause my feet are used to being pointed for that long .

hope i helped ♥♥

Thats just my openion not saying your dance director is wrong or anything !
Reply:I hate it when the elastic goes in too. I wouldn%26#039;t get a full sole, they don%26#039;t help you with your point, they just make it look like you aren%26#039;t pointing your foot. Leather never worked for me because my feet sweat a lot. They also tend to stretch out and get dis-colored easily. I would say, stick with the split sole canvas, but you could always try a different brand. Oh and for your elastic problem, what I do is tie little knots at the very end of the string that way they can%26#039;t go through the hole. Hope I helped!
Reply:i dont know what you mean by full sole shoes, but demi-pointe shoes help you get up to pointe faster and when you get to pointe, you will be used to the shoes.

if youre already on pointe, you should go to a very good dance store and get measured and find out which pointe shoes will fit you best. i hear gaynor mindens are great, you might want to try those.
Reply:I don%26#039;t really agree that the full sole will stregthen your feet, I would just a lot of good foot and ankle excersizes. But for the slipper I would try Grisko with the split sole, and V vamp. They let your arch show and complement the foot. but they are canvas. They work really good for me, atleast try them on.
Reply:full soles do nothing to make your foot work harder, and there hasnt been, in my opinion, a flattering full sole since before capezio came out with the daisey.

i personally prefer leather, it molds to the feet better and it will not crack if you sweat, that%26#039;s just bogus information. theyt last longer and arent as slippery on marley as canvas shoes. leo also offers the arabesque in leather with a canvas insert, which is almost the same as the bloch leather split sole. as far as the knot, i also just do the ti and tck, but its also perfectly fine to double knot it and cut the excess elastic so you dont have to do it everytime you put your shoe on, or make a small not in each side of the elastic to keep it from retracting.

as far as pointe, you wont benefit more from a full sole than a split sole, much more goes into selecting a pointe shoe than what you used for a class on demi.
Reply:A Note About Leather: Be sure Not to dance barefoot when wering leather shoes, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wear tights and/ or light socks. and let the shoes dry out after dancing. Otherwise the lether will become hard and brittle and eventuly break. This happened to me. Also leather shoes take a bit longer to break in than fabric shoes so keep that in mind for proformances.
Reply:Split sole shoes help your point.
Reply:I highly recommend staying with split sole. Full soles do not compliment your feet AT ALL!!! Whoever told you that full soles would make you better on pointe was partially right but mostly wrong. They don%26#039;t make much of a difference at all for when you go on pointe, but the make the curves in your feet very unflattering and they make your feet look like a beginner%26#039;s. I would also suggest leather instead of canvas. Canvas gets dirtier a lot faster and with leather the dirt is easy to clean off with a warm rag. The shoes I have are actually really nice because they are complete leather except for the arch which is canvas. Some that I have not tried but look very nice are the shoes that have leather and then mesh on the arch. I guess its your choice though, Good Luck!!!
Reply:Pesonaly I like split sol much better it gives you a much nicer pointand more shaply! It%26#039;s true one sol makes you work harderbecause the point you will get look horible! I don%26#039;t think letter is a good chois either it makes you sweat sooo much more and you can not get leather shoes with air holes! If you have not tried them befor good job you really never shoul!

Thats my advice i hope it helped %26lt;3 Mandy

Ballet Slippers?

I have a pair of split-sole canvas slippers and I was wondering if I should get other kinds.

Why Leather?

Why Canvas?

Why split-soled?

Why full soled?

What kind do you use and why?

Ballet Slippers?
I love my leather split soled baby%26#039;s. They%26#039;ve just always worked for me. Leather gives more support than canvas and split sole lets your feet move easier. Stick with your canvas ones though, there%26#039;s no point in returning them now unless they are uncomfortable. Its really up to you and you%26#039;re opinion, I%26#039;ve tried many kinds and landed on my favorite, but other people might completely disagree. Hopefully(unlike one of my dance studios) you%26#039;re studio won%26#039;t care what kind they are so its basically up to you. Try going to a dance store and trying the different kinds on and actually dancing in them. Ask for the people%26#039;s opinion who work there also. Well, I hope this helped and best of luck!
Reply:split-sole canvas shoes are a good choice!
Reply:use the kind that makes you feel nice and make you look stylish and who cares what kind you pick. Any way pick the kind that makes you feel relaxed and happy! i hope that helps =)
Reply:split sole is best for me, because its easier to point in and looks better.

i like canvas over leather, because ur feet can breathe in canvas, but leather is also good because it forms to ur feet easier.

i use the same kind as u
Reply:Why Leather? Because it will last longer and won%26#039;t smell as badly.

Why Canvas? Easier to wear, lighter.

Why split-soled? Shows off your arch better.

Why full soled? Makes you work through your foot more, but won%26#039;t flatter your arch.

What kind do you use and why? Bloch Pump Canvas and Capezio Juliette. The Pump makes my non-arched feet look good. Capezio is comfortable.

Good Luck
Reply:Canvas Split Sole is the way to go. that is what i have and everybody at my studio says that i have beautiful feet (nice arch, etc.) and they are just much more easier to sew. never get full sole because your feet will appear to b crappy! lol.
Reply:canvas split soles are a great choice. leather doesnt look good to me. i like split soled as it seems easier to point and shows off your arch better.

however, i dont use any of those. i have ballet shoes that cover the front of your foot and the heel. elastics cross from the right side of the front piece to the left side of the back piece and vice versa. i tried to find a picture but i couldn%26#039;t. i%26#039;m not sure of the actual name but i really like them. the plus side? you dont have to sew on any elastics
Reply:leather split-soled are the best I think cus leather lasts longer and split-soled cus it gives you more of an arch and is easier for advanced dancers. You can do more pointing and it will look great. full-soled slippers are for beginners and more for little girls!!
Reply:i personally dont like canvas because its slippery on marley and my feet just look bad in them. i FINALLY had to bite it and buy new slippers this year (first pair since 8th grade, and I turned 25 yesterday...) The pair i was using were old school capezio leather full-soles, like older than the capezio daisies, but if I hadn%26#039;t been so used to them and reglued the sole 56 times, I would certainly have gone with a leather split sole, like the bloch SO2. thats what im using now, and i really like them. they make my flat arches look decent...theres really no saving ym crummy feet...and i personally think theyre much more comfortable than canvas.
Reply:It depends on what kind you want. Here%26#039;s the list of different materials and characteristic each shoes offer:

Materials:

Leather: Commonly used because is cheaper compared to satin. It is also quite lasting as compared to canvas and satin

Canvas: Cheapest of the 3 options. Can be washed by washing machine in gentle cycle. Apperance is not that appealing.

Satin: Shiny cloth-like material. Very pretty and often used in exams or performances. Dirty more easily and stains are hard to remove.

Characterics:

Full-sole: The leather sole covers the foot without any breaking. The sole is thus harder and requires the dancer to pointe harder to see the arch. This helps to strengthen the foot.

Split-sole: sole is divided into 2 parts, with the centre arch being soleless, and replaced by the outer leather/satin/canvas. Without the sole, is easier to pointe, hence giving nicer arch.
Reply:The best kind to get are leather with a canvas arch. The leather is good because it doesn%26#039;t get dirty as easily as canvas, but the canvas arch hugs your arch and makes your foot look even more pointed. Split sole is definitely better than full soled because full soled doesn%26#039;t compliment anyone%26#039;s feet. Split soled shows the curve of your foot where the too soles split. I love my leather, split soled, canvas arch. Leather with mesh arches work really well too. Look for the mesh under the Leo%26#039;s brand and the Leather/canvas ones under Sansha. Good luck!!!
Reply:I use canvas split sole. Leather lasts longer but it is less breathable. I like the split sole because I think it gives the foot a better line.
Reply:If you want to work your feet more, go with the leather full soled. Even though it doesn%26#039;t seem like it would be different, you have to work your feet harder to create a nice line in the full soled. However, most studios these days use split soled. So, if you want the popular shoe, go with the split soled. If you want a shoe that is going to benefit your feet more in the long run, go with the full soled and maybe wear the splits in performances. Good luck with your dancing!

Coloring ballet slippers?

I would like to dye my daughters pink ballet slippers to black. Is this possiable. The material appears to be leather.

Coloring ballet slippers?
Yes, buy a product called%26quot; colour change.%26quot; It comes with easy to follow instructions and is very effective. Some supermarkets sell it but if not shoe shops have it or Mr Fixit type stands
Reply:yes u can in ballet stores they sell speciaƱ painting for them
Reply:I am a ballet dancer and I what I do i spray paint my pointes, I wouldn%26#039;t dye cuz it maybe would come off easily. =)
Reply:I had to do this recently except to jazz shoes but I think they are made out of the same kind of leather as ballet slippers.

I went to a shoe repair place and bought a solution that is made specifically for preparing leather before you dye it. This was very easy; you just wipe it on and wait for it to dry but make sure you follow the directions for the brand you buy. It is very strong smelling stuff and you have to use it in a well ventilated area. After this step I applied black shoe dye on top of the beige shoe, waited for it to dry, shined them up a bit and voila, ready to wear.
Reply:I spray paint them and then let them dry a day or two. If you don%26#039;t want to take the chance, you can always take it into a dance shop.
Reply:my old ballet teacher, when she would want our slippers to match our costume, she would actually spray paint %26#039;em. i know, sounds silly, but it works. just spray paint them and they will stay that way. i still have my first pair of ballet slippers that were spray painted red and they are still gleming to this day....just a bit raggid of course.
Reply:hi. i%26#039;m a ballet dancer by profession and i%26#039;ve seen some of our ladies coloring their shoes using permamnent markers... it%26#039;ll be slow going but it might be worth it because you won%26#039;t lose the suppleness of the shoe taht much as when you paint them. just a suggestion.

Can a vegetarian still be considered a vegetarian and wear ballet slippers?

I%26#039;ve been a vegetarian for more than a year and I just realized (dumb, I know) that my ballet slippers (their not pointe shoes) are made with leather. Can I still be considered a vegetarian if I keep wearing them? I%26#039;m quite serious about being a ballerina and a vegetarian. So there%26#039;s my dilema. Thanks.

Can a vegetarian still be considered a vegetarian and wear ballet slippers?
You can still be a vegetarian as long as you don%26#039;t eat your ballet slippers.
Reply:I think that even though you are wearing ballet shoes, you are still a vegetarian because you don%26#039;t eat meat, so animals are not being killed just for their meat. You can still be called a vegetarian because it refers to what you eat and not what you wear.
Reply:Well, it seems you bought the shoes before you went vegetarian. A lot of veg*ans will use up the leather goods they bought before they went veg and buy cruelty-free goods afterwards.

As another poster pointed out, there are vegan alternatives. I have seen the Cynthia King ads in VegNews magazine.
Reply:You would
Reply:I think it would be more of a concern if you were a vegan.

Many vegetarians wear animal products such as leather, since they feel the animal was already killed in the name of supplying meat for someone else%26#039;s consumption.

I suppose that%26#039;s not really a good way to look at it... but it does ease the guilt some.
Reply:It%26#039;s hard being a vegetarian. There%26#039;s no arguing with that. It seems as if the entire world is against us, and there%26#039;s nothing we can really do. Cars have leather interiors, shoes contain leather, we can find animal ingredients everywhere. It has been pointed out that it is nearly impossible to remain 100% vegetarian outside of controlling what you eat. But there are ways to try and avoid it.

For your situation, I see two possible answers. Yes and no. Yes you can wear leather ballet slippers because there are really no other alternatives that are readily available. Sometimes we need to compromise.

The no part comes into play that it is indeed leather. You are causing a poor animal to die.

There is a way to solve this. Since you are really worried about this my advice is to go buy some synthetic slippers. Yes. They do exist, but you may not be able to find them in stores. One great place to look is discount dance supply (www.discountdancesupply.com) there is an entire section of their site that lists canvas ballet slippers! The only issue is the suede sole, but a buying a split sole would mean less of this (and I always preferred split). Their prices range from 12$ to 20$, so they are comparative to many leather ballet slippers. I used to buy from this site for my dance shoes because they have more of a variety than my local stores did.

Another place to look that has completely vegan dance shoes is Cynthia King Dance Studio. They sell a 100% vegan shoe. http://www.cynthiakingdance.com/slippers...

Good luck!
Reply:Don%26#039;t worry, :) It%26#039;s OK unless you are a Vegan!

I do dance too. I also have leather shoes and i am a flexaterian! Its OK because the animal would have been slaughtered anyway for it%26#039;s meat so don%26#039;t feel bad, it%26#039;s not your fault especially as you are keen on ballet. You can still be considered a vegeterian! :pXXX%26lt;3%26lt;3
Reply:a vegetarian means those food that you eat must not be live animals but only vegetable.

whats wrong wearing leather.
Reply:As a vegan, you might be concerned, but as a vegetarian..no.
Reply:i%26#039;m twelve iv%26#039;e been a vegitarian for over 3 yrs now. and the way i would think of it with the ballet slippers is that the animal already died. and you should just use it. it%26#039;s ok. good for u for being a vegiterian. wear the slippers. u already wore them.
Reply:They do make vegan ballet slippers! Just google it. I%26#039;ve seen a few sites that carry vegan footwear, including ballet slippers. They have a vegan counterpart to everything. Bowling shoes (leather), tennis racquets (catgut), etc.

By the way, I think that it is hypocritical for a vegetarian to consciously buy leather products or fur. It%26#039;s gross too. You%26#039;re wearing a dead animal%26#039;s skin! It reminds me of the Nazis back in WWII. They would kill the Jews and make soap out of their dead bodies (bar soap is made out of tallow, which is cow or pig fat) and made lamp shades out of their skin. When the light was on, you can see their veins. It%26#039;s sick.

However, I know a lot of vegetarians who do not buy new leather, because they do not want to support the company manufacturing it, but they will buy it second hand. OR They will not buy any new (or used) leather products, but will keep the ones they bought before becoming a vegetarian, because they don%26#039;t want it to go to waste. So on one hand, if you already bought the slippers before going veg or before knowing that they were made of leather, you don%26#039;t have to feel too bad about keeping them. But if you%26#039;re considering buying new ballet shoes, I would suggest finding some non-leather ones online, or maybe a ballet shoe store. They might have some non-leather ones there. Maybe.

Oh, and one more thing. How do YOU feel about owning leather? The way you wrote your question is interesting, as if you want to know if you still %26#039;count%26#039; as being vegetarian, like it%26#039;s some kind of job title. Being vegetarian isn%26#039;t about following strict rules for the sake of following them. Like %26quot;Oh, if I don%26#039;t do this, I%26#039;m not going to be official.%26quot; It%26#039;s about doing what you feel is right. If you feel fine with wearing it, then so be it. But if you feel like something is wrong - which is what compelled you to write this question in the first place - then do something about it.

I don%26#039;t think that vegetarians should wear leather if they%26#039;re vegetarian for ethical reasons.. The vegan thing I think comes in when you choose not to wear wool. Wool is like milk, in my opinion. You don%26#039;t have to kill the animal to get the product, but you are keeping the animal in captivity and are using it. But for leather, you obviously have to kill the animal to get it, just like meat.
Reply:No you have to go barefoot and never wash or shave.
Reply:yes because it%26#039;s only if you%26#039;re vegan that you can%26#039;t wear animal products. i%26#039;m a vegetarian too and it%26#039;s hard to avoid wearing leather sometimes.

you%26#039;re totally fine (as long as you%26#039;re not vegan)
Reply:I%26#039;m a leather fan myself. I would keep the shoes and maybe buy a leather pair of butt less chaps.

Do Dubai duty free shops sell men's casual native slippers?

Slipper preferably made of cloth for its top, although the sole could be rubber or leather. At any rate, the slipper should be comfortable and soft.

Do you and your friends, family partner wear slippers. if so why. and what kind?

my wife operates at no shoe policy. its too cold to go barefoot and she wont allow stocking feet.so we wear slippers.i friends bring their own or she gives them a pair. she s into large furry ones and i wear designer leather. kids love moccaisins and bunny slippers. last year vogue magazine said slippers were the must have footware item/ they get a bad press.but we all love them. any of you agree. its best to be comfortable and relaxed than being cold and irritable.anyway our slippers are cool and stylish or we wouldnt wear. mot everyone wear tartan slippers these days. thank goodness,

Do you and your friends, family partner wear slippers. if so why. and what kind?
My mom wears these UGG slippers to work (at the hospital, haha). She has two pairs, one in brown and one in black. UGG also makes a pair of moccasins, I%26#039;m thinking about getting them.
Reply:Oh hell yeah, the streets are dirty, and we all wear slippers to keep the floors clean. I love moccassins, comfortable and its not even like wearing slippers. Feet need a break from constricting shoes.
Reply:UGG Boots Are Just Horrible!
Reply:I wear slippers at home because they%26#039;re comfortable and warm my feet. I like the furry or soft cotton ones. I really never looked too much into slippers and the kinds to choose from as much you did but I think its kinda cute. lol But I%26#039;m just wondering does your wife make you guys wear slippers outside the house too??? I%26#039;m just kind of thrown off by the whole friends thing. BTW good thing your wife doesn%26#039;t allow stockings because I think they%26#039;re tacky. Slippers are so much better looking and comfortable and elegant enough to wear at home when you have a couple of family and friends over or even just random guests instead of having to wear regular shoes.

P.S

I love matching my slippers with my PJs. Its stylish and it feels good to look good and be comfortable at home too!
Reply:my parents wear slippers, i%26#039;m not sure of the brand. But i wear bed socks. so comfy and you can get them just about anywhere.
Reply:I wear mocs at home all year. Deer skin in the summer, moose or buffalo in the fall/ spring and in the colder weather, I switch to sheepskin ones for the added warmth and the occasional step outside in the snow for the mail

Does anyone remember those mukluk-style slippers that were popular like 12 years ago?

They looked sort of Native Indian in style... they were knitted slippers with a thin leather sole, they went up to the top of your calves, and just had a string to tighten them. They usually had a design knitted into them. What were they called? Can you still get them anywhere?

Does anyone remember those mukluk-style slippers that were popular like 12 years ago?
Mukluk%26#039;s are the varient for moccasin%26#039;s..A higher profile..designed for winter wear..Developed by the Inuit and Eskimo people%26#039;s of our far north...

Became stylish, years ago for a couple year%26#039;s..Mostly knock offs of the real thing. Not very practical..Yes you can still get the real ones up here where I live...The local native ladies still make them...They run anywhere from $150.00 to $500.00 per pair, depending on the hide used, beading and design...

Try looking up these two magazines in your browser...%26quot;Up Here%26quot;...and The %26quot; Alaska Magazine%26quot;...There are ads in there for them...Wait a min...Just looked it up for you in %26quot;Alaska%26quot;...Here you go..Made in Minnesota..even so, these are good...

My first ballet slippers!!?

I%26#039;m going to go get my first pair of ballet slippers on Monday! I%26#039;m a college freshman and I have discovered that I absolutely LOVE dancing, so no better time to start then the present... I am taking my first class in the fall. I just was looking for some suggestions on ballet slipper type. Canvas or leather, which do you prefer? Why? I also read somewhere that it is a good idea to buy 2 pairs of shoes so they can properly dry out in between classes, but I didn%26#039;t know if people actually did that. IIs there anything I should do between now and August to kind of %26quot;break in/get used to%26quot; my shoes so me feet don%26#039;t hate me after the first few weeks? Any advice on what I should make sure to ask my sales person is appreciated also. Thanks a ton!

My first ballet slippers!!?
congrats on signing up for classes i promise you will have a fun time,

i would suggest canvas shoes to start with the last time i was at the dance store the sales rep. was talking to someone doing the same thing as you she also suggested canvas because it washes easily

i personally dont know how clean the dance floors are at the college you will be attending but if they are like so of the dance floors i have danced on they arnt the cleanest and trust me your shoes will pick up the dirt

you can wash them by throwing them in the washer (wash with cold water on a gentle cycle and DONT put them in the dryer just hang them in the shower or on a door handle)

another plus it that canvas shoes are usually less expensive

i would also suggest split sole shoes

they make your feet look more pointed, and they are easier to dance in

i would say that two pairs of shoes are unnecessary even if you are taking classes every day i would suggest buying a mesh bag for you to slip your shoes in, this will let them dry out, when you get back home or back to your dorm you can just take the mesh bag out of your dance bag and hang it on your door handle and then by next days classes they will be dry

if you are worried about breaking in your shoes it wouldnt hurt to wear them around your house before august but ballet shoes arnt really that hard to break in, you would be fine if you didnt break them in before classes though

i would talk to the sales person about how to sew on the elastics(if they dont come sewn on) and also i would tell her that you want for example canvas, split sole shoes she will know what you are talking about

also tell her about your situation and she may be able to give you some more pointers

have fun

good luck
Reply:well i dance and i prefer leatyher u get more slide and it is so much more comtabel so i would choose that good luck with it
Reply:I prefer leather because it feels like you are gliding (not slipping) while you dance. Also i prefer split sole and yes you should break them in so they feel more comfortable. I don%26#039;t think you should buy two pairs of shoes. Don%26#039;t worry about drying them out, just buy one pair and you should be fine. Also I have the brand Capezio and i love it so I think you should go with those!

Good Luck

HOPE I HELPED!!!! =]
Reply:I personally use canvas split sole. Canvas is easy to clean and its cheaper, but leather is more durable. I%26#039;ve never really worn leather becasue my studio sells canvas and that%26#039;s what the teacher prefers so that%26#039;s what I wear. I think that split sole is easier to move and point your feet in. Make sure the salesperson doesn%26#039;t sell them to you to small. Ballet slippers are supose to be a little snug, but not so you can%26#039;t walk. Hope this helps.
Reply:Canvas Split Sole.

Try Grishko Performance.
Reply:buy leather. but double check to make sure you want to do this. you are not going directly on pointe that may take up to 5 years. you are going to learn all the positions and be placed in a class full of little girls aged 5 or 6. be prepared for pointing and giggling. so if you are willing to put up with 5 years of that and then finally get on pointe (which hurts when you first start out) you can certainly do that. i wish you the best of luck with ballet.
Reply:well... ur feet won%26#039;t hate you!(seriously... ballet slippers don%26#039;t hurt ur feet!) ummm get Capizio%26#039;s brand! if you want a shoe that willl last longer get lether if you want a easier to wash get canvas! also ask them for extra elastic to sew a X shape on ur shoes! good luck have fun!
Reply:Go with leather. It is easier to wear...if it is available I would go with the brands Capezio or Leo

Ballet slippers?

if i put my canvas ballet slippers with leather soles int eh washer %26amp; dryer will they shrink?

cuz i need them to because my moms making me buy a size 71/2 thinking i could grow into them when i can fit a size 7

thankies 2 all!

Ballet slippers?
they should shrink, but I really don%26#039;t recommend putting themin the dryer
Reply:Don%26#039;t wash them, and don%26#039;t buy them too big. Ballet slippers need to fit you just right, all the time. Buying new slippers as your feet grow is just part of the sport. They%26#039;re your most important piece of equipment! I buy my daughter two different sizes at a time so as soon as she is uncomfortable in one, she has another to go into right away.
Reply:Oh my gosh i handwashed them and put them outside to dry and that worked wondors. But if u want them to shrink u could go ahead and take ur chances and put them in the dryer. But seriously tell ur mom that if she buys u a size 7 1/2 that%26#039;ll be too big for u. Otherwise u could just wait and grow into them.

Lots of choices, just choose what to do!!!

=]
Reply:I wouldnt put your shoes in the dryer beczuse they could get damaged
Reply:You definetly should not put them in the dryer, explain to your mom that you need the proper size for two reasons. One it can be dangerous due to lack of support and two it will affect your performance.

Try canvas ballet slippers, I love them, I have capezio canvas and they feel like your dancing in socks. They also breathe better. They are like $15-20. Really cheap but really good shoes.
Reply:I personally dance in capezio shoes, but go with whatever is the most comfortable.

you can also check other dance suppliers to see if you can a better deal.

try googling dancewear, or ballet shoes. you%26#039;ll get lots of results.

good luck to you!!

Blur or Green Ballet Slippers?

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me me where I can buy colored (blue or green or yellow) soft leather ballet slippers. I wear an adult size 10 c width and have been looking on the net, but have come up empty...any suggestions?

Blur or Green Ballet Slippers?
Have you tried DanceDistributors online? If you haven%26#039;t definitely check them out. Otherwise, I think you%26#039;ll just have to get white canvas slippers and die them. I%26#039;ve done it before, and it works well.
Reply:you wont be able to find them any where. you have to spray paint them, and trust me, it works. my grandma is my ballet teacher and she always has to spray paint peoples shoes. but yeah, it would be nice if they sold different color shoes.

~Kayla~
Reply:guys ordinarily don%26#039;t wear colored slippers.

they almost always wear black....

in fact, i%26#039;ve never seen a guy wear anything other than black slippers.

((p.s.:he wasn%26#039;t talking about the ballet flats that youu wear as street shoes. he%26#039;s talking about REAL ballet shoes that youu wear for ballet classes.))
Reply:You asked it many times and seem to be dissatified with the answers, for you%26#039;re coming back with the same question.

There is no other way than dyeing canvas or satin slippers with fabric dye (Dylon, Ritz) or spray painting the leather slippers.
Reply:You will probably have to either dye them or spray paint them yourself.
Reply:im not sure where you could find them. but you could always spray paint your regular ballet shoes.
Reply:You might have to dye them.
Reply:Try this website called Jennetsdancewear.com
Reply:um, if ur a guy then why dont u just get regular black???
Reply:I saw a bunch of them at OldNavy yesterday (Black Friday)...all different colors too.
Reply:Get a pink pair and use shoe dye, Dylon. To get the exact colour you want. Don%26#039;t be afraid to mix two colours together to get exactly what you want.c
